Digiscape | Summer Networking Series
Launched in Spring 2010, DigiScape is designed to help screen-based media professionals adapt to digital shifts in the industry. As a summer networking series, presentations focus on recent technological, regulatory and creative trends, and examine such topics as transmedia project development, rights management, collaboration with digital media companies and the facilitation of audience interactivity. Presenters are key players in the digital media space and the format consists of an informal presentation against the backdrop of networking. DigiScape: 3D Practicum with the SIRT Centre I Tuesday July 24, 2012
Are you interested in the technologies being used by James Cameron and Peter Jackson? Then this Digiscape is for you!
The Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT) is heavily involved in applied research and best practices for stereoscopic 3D production and post-production for film and television. From previsualization to delivery, this ranges from work in TV documentary and factual entertainment, to high end digital cinema production for theatrical features. Currently SIRT is in the process of establishing a major research project on the High Frame Rate (HRF) technology being used by James Cameron and Peter Jackson. This partnership with Christie Digital will launch a unique international centre which will generate test footage, evaluate workflows from production through display, and conduct workshops on HFR technology.
This Digiscape networking event will present an overview of 3D previsualization through display for animation and live action, as well as screenings of a variety of 3D material. For the display, SIRT will be using a new Christie Digital CP4220 4K theatrical cinema projector located in the Centre’s 5000-square-foot studio space at Pinewood Toronto Studios.
Don’t miss your opportunity to learn more about cutting-edge technical production facilities!
